The rationale for one of the exercises in Calm Confident Children called Squeak, Babble and Shake. Animals shake to reduce the stress in their bodies after they have been chased by a predator and survived. The Squeak, Babble and Shake shakes out fear and stress stored in children’s bodies.
The actual exercise. The children can have a really good shake and make any sound they like at the same time. Otherwise they can pretend to be animals, they can roar like a lion, squeak like a mouse or moan like a monkey or another animal.
After they have had a good shake for about forty-five seconds you can ask them to do the next exercise.
